What is MindBody Healing?

Mindbody practitioners believe that the mind and body are not separate

The body and mind, or “mindbody system”, are always functioning together as one.  The reason it has to be specified in this way is that a few hundred years ago western medicine divided us into two. A set of healthcare professionals for our mind, and another set for the body.

The system created therapists, psychologists, and so forth (doctors for our minds, if you like) and in a totally separate school and then separate doctor’s office; general practitioners, surgeons, specialists, body doctors.

So in a way, what mindbody health means is simply logical – it is a whole system approach. It starts from a point of view that the mind, emotions, and body are together. 

For anyone suffering with a chronic condition like ME / CFS or LongCovid it can take a long time to be ready to try “Mindbody Healing”, as these chronic conditions are clearly so physical; a body cure seems to be the logical solution.

And so, we tend to follow the medical system in our culture, trying firstly the body doctors, then sometimes a mind doctor or two (and then more body doctors from different cultures!) and then we try things we never thought we would (from shamans to psychics, from strange transplants to jungle ceremonies, and more).

Often people find Mindbody healing tools many years into their journey, and this is completely natural. Initially we follow the accepted medical system we are living in. As patients, we have been trying very hard to do what the experts tell us.

Hopefully, as you are reading this page about mindbody health, you are ready to consider trying something new – to address your system as a whole: Something truly (w)holistic.

The word healing comes from the old english for “wholeness”

Healing is the process of moving towards wholeness.

Is it talking therapy or what will we do?

Mindbody Healing is practical and is not the same as “talking therapy”. This coaching helps you, no matter how severe your condition is, through practical techniques and new ways of thinking that you will learn and use. There is some sharing and connecting which happens via talking in sessions, but that is only a small part of being coached.

The coaching is personalised to you as your situation is unique, but most people get benefit in the first phase from the Havening Technique and EFT tapping and restful meditation as ways to start to soothe the system.

Then as we go through the phases of your recovery, we begin to integrate beliefs work, brain training, nervous system healing with body-based somatic techniques, stress release and energy healing. 

The first step for Amari as a coach when working towards your recovery with you, is to recognize sources of tension, imbalances, and held patterns. Then she creates a recovery plan for you, helping you come into a place of gentleness and ease. 

The aim of doing this type of coaching, right from the first session, is that you start feeling better very quickly.

In order to achieve this, we address your whole system and we develop ways for you to soothe the nervous system dysregulation and help you come out of Fight or Flight. This is key in the first phase of your recovery.

Regulating the nervous system is something that is almost impossible to do alone, and you may have been struggling to achieve this very goal for years or decades.

It is coming to light now that human beings need to co-regulate with another human being in order to leave fight / flight / freeze. We are hardwired for connection. We need support in order to thrive.

And the good news is that because of this aspect, mindbody health coaching can lead to a huge improvement in symptoms in a relatively short amount of time.

What is it like to have Amari Love as a Coach?

Amari Love uses a range of different techniques, exercises and healing tools. She will work with you to create your recovery plan, and she will guide you forwards.

Having been through her own recovery journey, Amari is very well-informed about physical issues, with a wealth of experience in nutrition and gut health, back issues, fibro and body pain, chronic fatigue and many other symptoms. But whilst she can happily help you ease these symptoms initially, it is her mission to address the root cause of your condition via your Mind, Body and Spirit. This way you can move from “coping” and “managing symptoms” to total recovery.

The main focus of your coaching with Amari will include the following:

Developing soothing techniques to help you come out of fight or flight. Learning ways to ease your dysregulated nervous system (ANS), beliefs work, neuroplasticity and brain training, coming to an understanding and practical use of TMS, presence exercises, meditations and techniques to help with rest and sleep, somatic experiencing, emotional release work, inner child connection, energy healing, shadow work and parts work.

In addition to this, as an experienced life and business coach, and after working for many years in the Film Industry, Amari will be happy to help you in the later stages of your recovery too; when you start to feel ready to consider working and how you want your future life to be. (But let’s focus first on getting your health back and your symptoms under your control!)

This healing journey takes you along a unique path and returns you to wholeness.

It is your path. It is your journey. Sometimes it is difficult to walk the path alone. And it can be confusing to see which way is forwards and which way is back.
